Four-time Formula One drivers’ champion held the record for most grand prix victories from 1987 until 2001, when he was beaten by Michael Schumacher. The French racing driver’s maternal grandparents are Armenian. His grandmother fled from the genocide to France, where she met her husband and gave birth to Marie-Rose Karatchian, Prost’s mother.

Alain Marie Pascal Prost Ruiz, born February 24, 1955 in Saint-Chamond, Loire, France, from an Armenian mother is one of the most successful Formula One drivers of all time. During his Formula One career, which lasted from 1980 to 1993, he won 51 Grands Prix (a record until Michael Schumacher overtook this total in 2001) and won four World Drivers Championships.
